From Chef Hamill, Owner, 12/12/16: Happy Holidays from the Rock&Roll Diner !! We have had another great year thanks to you, our wonderful customers. As we wrap up the 2016 season, we look forward to a great new development for 2017 regarding a permanent place for our truck to park. We will be revealing the information soon!! Customers will be soon be able to count on the truck being in the same place for lunch and dinner many days of the week, and still being able to come find us at festivals and local events on the weekends. The food truck will also still be available to come out to businesses and events during the week...just check with us to see if your event meets our criteria for a visit!! In the meantime we will be parked for the months of December and January getting our new location ready. Have a wonderful and happy holiday season, stay safe, and we will see you soon! 10/5/2016, From Chef Hamill: Thank you Daleville, VA, and all who attended the BOCO BBQ Festival. It was a great day and a great turnout. We fired up the smoker in the wee hours of the morning, and put the pork bbq, brisket, chicken and ribs on the fire. By noon we were ready to go, and ended up selling out of all of our food by 4pm. During the awards ceremony, we took 1st place for our "Smoked Beer Can Chicken", and 1st for our "Trifecta Sauce" Smoked Ribs!! Took 2nd place for our brisket and pork BBQ as well!!! Come by soon and try our awesome Pork BBQ, which is always on the menu!!
From Chef Hamill, 9/9/2016: The results are in!! The Rock&Roll Diner went to Staunton, VA over Labor Day weekend, for the Va Food Truck Battle. There were 24 trucks from across the state, 8 to a zone. There were many formidable trucks. We submitted our famous Key West Fish Tacos, and won 1st place for our zone!! Then went to battle with the other 2 winners, and came away with a 2nd place finish. Congrats to Farm Fresh Fixins for the win!! The event benefited the Madee project, which helps give pediatric care to youth with cancer. Thanks to all the volunteers who put the event together, and we look forward to next year!!!
From Chef Hamill, 6/20/16: Thanks to everyone who came out Saturday for the Big Lick Burger Fest. The Diner took home some awards - 1st Place for the Western Spam Melt, 2nd Place for Mesa Verde in Overall Category, and 2nd place for the Bacon Cheeseburger in Best All Beef. It was a fun day with some great music and lots of people. We will be selling the Mesa Verde and Spam Melt all week, so come check out the winners!! And thank you!!!!
From Chef Hamill, May 26th, 2016: Now that the catering month of May is behind us, we can start to pick up some Chef Specials for our weekly routine. On Friday May 27th we will be featuring our popular Sauteed Shrimp and Chipotle Cheddar Grits. A recipe handed down to me from my sister Becky Hamill, the Grits are simply unbelievable. Intense in flavor, sumptuous in texture. Then add 5 JUMBO shrimp sauteed in garlic butter with Franks hot sauce!! Dial in a few grilled asparagus spears and your in foodie heaven! Stay tuned all summer for great specials.
